This pretty necklace is a horizontal orientation with white and green resembling the evergreen trees in the Colorado Rockies with mottled white clouds above.  The stone setting is one inch in length and surrounded by scalloped sterling silver and hung with a sterling chain. 

Agate is a common semi-precious gemstone that is the banded variety of chalcedony.  The banding within agate is a history of water chemistry change.  It is found in many colors.  This particular rough stone was found in Colorado prior to being fashioned into this beautiful necklace. 

Agates have been treasured since antiquity and were one of the first stones carved into jewelry and ornamental use.  It was a stone on the High Priest breastplate in the Old Testament, representing the Aser tribe of Israelites.
